Just to the east of El Borne and to the north of the Maritimo is one of the oldest parts of Palma known as La Lonja. An area once inhabited by the fishing folk of the capital, today it is the trendy, shabby chic part of Palma full of great bars, restaurants and interesting nightlife – hence it has become a popular spot with visitors to the island.
The building La Lonja itself, or Llotja Sa on the corner of the Maritimo and La Lonja, is a beautiful example of Gothic architecture dating back to early 15th Century; An interesting and attractive building, it was originally the headquarters of the
Association of Merchants. Nowadays, it is only open to the public a few days each year, so one rarely has access, but if you peep in the windows, you will see the ceiling of the interior is supported by six beautiful spiral columns opening out into Palm trees at the top. A great landmark in Palma.
La Lonja’s close proximity to Palma Port is just staggering distance for yachting folk to go and relax after a hard day – hence it was top of the list for Mark when looking for the right site to open Mojo Bar. The lively atmosphere in the streets around La Lonja was a perfect match, and luckily, the premises at Jaime Ferrer became available, and the rest as they say, is history.
Mojo is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5 until late. As well as legendary cocktails and a list of beers
to satisfy visitors from all corners of the planet, Mojo also has a reputation for serving great food. The Menu encompasses great bar snacks and tapas as well as delicious burgers and hearty snacks.
Mojo Bar and its sister Bar – Mojo Beach have a loyal and regular following of customers who have become more like family. For many, after a long spell at sea – the first place they head to when arriving in Palma is Mojo La Lonja to catch up with old friends. They know they always receive a warm welcome, great food and drinks and a fun night out.
